Good news for our Novena, Essex, Thomson Estates Residents

Latest good news from the Land Transport Authority with whom my grassroots volunteers and I had been actively liaising; since I took over a year ago.
A pedestrian overhead bridge across Thomson Road, linking Velocity with Goldhill Shopping Centre, will be opened on 17 Nov 2021.
This, together with the overhead bridge along Thomson Road opened in late August 2021 (linking Royal Square with Revenue House), are ways to ensure better connectivity for pedestrians here.
Lifts will also be installed in 2022 to support our elderly and young children.
The North-South Corridor (NSC) will be Singapore’s longest Transit Priority Corridor, featuring dedicated bus lanes, cycling trunk routes and pedestrian paths, to serve public bus commuters, active mobility users and pedestrians.
Expected to complete in 2027, it will directly connect the Northern region and the city centre.
Construction is currently underway. And it has not been easy for residents, pedestrians, drivers and builders, by sheer project size and complexity of making it work in a busy residential and commercial city centre.
We look forward to the day of smoother, faster journeys (and no more construction sites when the NSC is completed.
The corridor, spanning 21.5 km, will deliver the following benefits :
CONNECT the city to the northern region
ALLEVIATE traffic on the CTE and major arterial roads such as Thomson and Marymount Road.
SAVE bus commute TIME with dedicated and continuous bus lanes
Benefit active-mobility users and pedestrians thru the cycling trunk routes and pedestrian paths, linking up with the Park Connector Network and local cycling paths in HDB towns along the entire corridor
Many residents had been understanding. And I’m glad to be serving together with the Novena Neighbourhood Committee volunteers to ensure timely and effective communications and mitigations for our residents from the agencies.
A big thank you to all!
