Inclusive Volunteering!

It warms my heart seeing these two volunteers together at our weekly Meet-the-People session.

Mr. Lizar takes on the role of coaching autistic ZY in calling out and directing residents to volunteer writers.

A few years ago, we found ZY at one of our house visits—often alone while his mom worked. Today he volunteers twice weekly with us: once here, and on another day distributing free goods to other vulnerable individuals.

There are sometimes paid micro jobs that he takes on whenever we can create or find them.

Everyone can contribute in some way to make life better for other lives. That’s what being a citizen also means, beyond exercising one’s vote.
