Tree-Planting Ceremony
Very happy to be part of the celebration of the completion of the dual pedestrian-cum-cycling lane along Bencoolen (from Rochor Road to Middle Road).
A tree-planting ceremony was organised for residents, the contractor, construction workers and LTA (Road and Commuter Infrastructure Development & Active Mobility Group).
As a recap, cycling lanes in Singapore enhance safety for road users by segregating cyclists from pedestrians and motorists, and promote active mobility and a car-lite society. They also contribute to a healthier lifestyle and a more pleasant urban environment.
Very grateful to LTA, which has a fairly tough job taking care of so many transport and connectivity needs in my district, including the North–South Corridor and many municipal needs. I am also thankful to my residents who have been patient and supportive. Blessed to be in Singapore.
(Fun fact: The team made tables and coasters from the trunk of a tree that was removed during construction, and we planted a new tree in its place.)
