Metropolitan YMCA 80th Anniversary and Launch of Social Hub and Green Future Hub

Joyfully celebrating the 80th anniversary of Metropolitan YMCA Singapore, and the launch of its Social Hub and Green Future Hub, all right here in our Central District.

Like many developed countries, Singapore has its fair share of challenges – super-ageing; low fertility; jobs, costs and economies often affected by external geo-political tensions, AI to add; multiple needs of vulnerable groups (some say they are our “lost, least and last”); climate and sustainability challenges. Government cannot solve all of them alone; neither is Government always the best to do so.

Having come from the private sector, and volunteering in the charity sector for decades plus now working in the public sector, I know the phrase “it takes a village” is not simply a cliché, for the best outcomes.

That’s why I’m grateful to organisations like the M-YMCA. For 80 years, M-YMCA has quietly, steadily walked its talk and lived out the most important commandment: to love our neighbours as we love ourselves.

Thank you for being that village with us. Happy birthday!
