Kampong Glam MPS with Crunchy Teeth Treats

I am thankful that my weekly Kampong Glam Meet-The-People sessions are also evenings when our volunteers get together to support inclusive causes.

Weekly, our lead volunteers order dinners from local home cooks, and create some micro jobs for young adults with special needs — simple but sincere acts of love.

Last night, we bought cookies from Crunchy Teeth, a Beach Road purposeful social enterprise bakery that trains and employs youths on the autism spectrum unable to work independently in the open market. We (self-fund) ordered yummy salted butter cookies and chocolate ones — delightful, homemade taste, melt-in-the-mouth makes made in an inclusive and supportive work environment!

Much has been done in Singapore for the young with special needs in the last 2 decades. They grow up to be adults.

And the after-school adult options for persons with disabilities are still scarce and in the making in Singapore.

Whilst government and charities work tirelessly to build these services now, parents like us (yup, me included) can do our part to find options and form part of the solution.

Crunchy Teeth Bakery is one of them and deserves our support.

Jia you!!
