A “Friendly Street” of a different kind over at Pek Kio / Kent Ville for our elderly residents and families.
Singapore's Friendly Streets initiative by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) transforms residential roads into pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly zones.
There are, for instance, traffic slow-down zones and lengthened red-light durations for road crossing to improve safety for families and seniors.
Works have completed at the stretch near Pek Kio market where residents of Alvin Tan (Tanjong Pagar GRC) and my (Jalan Besar GRC) wards frequent.
And we are delighted to share the news with folks at the market.
This is home, where things may not be perfect but we will still try to make life better n safer, nonetheless.
