ROLE AS AN MP AND GRASSROOTS ADVISOR

Well into my fourth term as MP of Kampong Glam under the Jalan Besar GRC, I am happy to serve my residents in many areas.

As we continue to navigate through COVID-19, many of our initiatives have evolved, and some have come back even stronger.

Many of our activities are not only driven by the Kampong Glam division team but also through active community participation.

Our initiatives include:

  • Key estate improvements, including Home Improvement Programmes, Lift Upgrading Programmes, covered link ways and overhead bridge lifts in many precincts

  • Bringing together previously uncoordinated services for our elderly residents through PeaceConnect Senior Activity Centres

  • Financial and social assistance for lower-income households, including Adopt a Family scheme, Milk and Diaper scheme, Tuition with Love programme

  • Installation of several signature programmes to build community cohesion including Breakfast with Love, National Day Block Parties

Moving Ahead on Disability Support

Very grateful that things disability are moving ahead positively in Singapore! The Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities has published its report, with the Government committing to spend up to 60% more on average on a PWD. Government is important but it will continue to take a Village.
