The Purple Symphony Concert 2026

Not an ordinary orchestra and concert! The Purple Symphony's rendition of ABBA's Dancing Queen got us all, young and old, grooving and swinging our magic dancing scarves!!

The 2 concerts at Esplanade over the last 2 nights were magical and many in the audience were mesmerised by the beautiful dance-themed songs played and sung — by Singapore's largest inclusive orchestra.

The pieces ranged from selections from classic The Nutcracker Suite to fun favourites like The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Founded by our Central CDC and conducted / directed by the ever creative and competent Quek Ling Kiong and Liong Kit Ying.

The annual concert this year told the stories of seemingly 'disabled' musicians overcome all the challenges they face to make good music with an equally committed and purposeful volunteer musicians.

So many great people and organisations believe in the vision of inclusion and celebrating abilities and supported the 11-year journey!

Your hearts would have melted if you were there — Lawrence the flutist and Sakinah the pianist who made music (no less quality) without the eyesights we all take for granted!

Royce our autistic cello player who danced when it's not his turn but immediately focused and without error performed his part when his turn came!

Our visually impaired choir members who blessed us with their unbelievable pure voices!

And and the many others and the other neurotypical musicians and volunteers who blended with them.

With Purpose, Passion and lots of Practice, The Purple Symphony did it again.

My heart is so full. I wish you were there.

Singapore is not just about economics, it has the soft power of love and inclusion that is beginning to surface more and more.

It is such a life privilege for me to part of this journey. Thank you!
